EX CAPTAIN'S DINNER
Gentlemen, It's nearly upon us. The Ex Captain's Dinner is being held in St Columba's by Edinburgh Castle on Saturday 25th February. The bar starts serving at 6.30pm and Dinner is served at 7.30pm. Tickets are £25 and are available from our events coordinator who can be contacted by email on events@edinburghridingthemarches.co.uk You can also message us on Facebook or Twitter to secure your tickets.
We are very lucky to have landed three top class speakers this year from different areas of life. We have James Lavery the legendary after dinner speaker, John Rowbotham the world famous follically challenged football referee and Grahame Vallance the Edinburgh Golf Professional who also cooks. This dinner will not be for the faint hearted. We hope to see you there.

YOUR CAPITAL CITY NEEDS YOU!!!
NEW LASS AND 2ND OFFICER WANTED FOR 2012
Are you free on 14th April, 9th September and lots of weekends in between? Do you enjoy horse riding, socialising, meeting new people and are you proud to hail from Scotland’s Capital City.
If so, applications are invited now for the roles of 2012 Edinburgh Lass and 2nd Officer and you could be the very person for one of these jobs!!
As Edinburgh Lass, you will be thrown in at the deep end, accompanying your fellow Principal riders round the many other riding towns throughout the summer, attending ceremonies, balls, rideouts and finally leading the way in the Edinburgh festivities in September. 2012 will be a whirlwind year to remember.
The new 2nd Officer will begin a 3 year journey, culminating in promotion to Edinburgh Captain in 2014 and being granted the honour of carrying the City Of Edinburgh Banner up the Royal Mile. This role also carries a requirement for a lot of social interaction, riding, ceremony and fun. Think you’re hard enough??
How can I apply??

We need the following information:
• Full name
• Date and place of birth
• Address including postcode
• Email address
• Telephone no.
• Employment details
• Explain in around 300 words why you should be considered as Edinburgh Lass or 2nd Officer. Please consider the following selection criteria when writing.
Selection criteria
• Candidates should be over 25 years of age
• Candidates must appear on the Electoral Roll for the city Of Edinburgh and/or evidence a strong connection with the city i.e. business interests, property, employer, career or charitable work.
• Candidates will be of good character
• Candidates should be accomplished riders.
• Candidates should be able to evidence knowledge of the ridings or at least a sound understanding of the history and traditions of Edinburgh Riding of the Marches and EMRA Ltd.
• Candidates must be members of EMRA Ltd in order to be viable for selection as a Principal.
• Candidates must not sit on another riding town’s festival committee.
• Candidates will not have served as or applied to serve as a Principal in another festival.
The closing date for all applications is 31st January 2012.

E.M.R.A. PATRONS SCHEME
An opportunity to support one of Scotland’s Oldest and Newest Riding of the Marches events.
The costs involved in running Edinburgh Riding Of The Marches are immense. We are currently looking at a number of ways to raise the money needed to hold the event this year and build for the future. One such way is the E.M.R.A. Patrons Scheme, which offers benefits for Annual and Lifetime Patrons of the event.
For a minimum annual donation of £50, Patrons will be entitled to the following benefits:
A lifetime patronage is available for a minimum donation of £1000

- A mention on the patrons page in the 2010 event brochure and website.
- Receive a Patrons badge/ribbons.
- Complimentary copy of event brochure.
- Placed on email list for notification of associated events.
- 20 places will be designated solely for Patrons on the 2010 ride. These places will be balloted for, will be non transferrable and all riders will be subject to the standard EMRA terms and conditions.
- Patrons who choose not to ride or are unsuccessful in the ride ballot will be balloted for places at the Civic Reception on the day of the ride and be part of the Lord Provosts party at the Mercat Cross.
A lifetime patronage is available for a minimum donation of £1000

Membership of the Edinburgh March Riding Association Ltd is open to anyone who is interested in helping the Association achieve its aims and objectives.
Members must be over 18 years of age and will be entitled to one vote at Annual General Meetings. Any application for membership must be approved by the Office Bearers of the Association. All members can be considered for a place on the E.M.R.A. General Committee. The membership fee at present is £10 annually.
